. I have long thought that the solution to alcohol on planes is for a limit, similar to the drink drive limit be introduced industry wide. Ideally this would probably need to be done at a government level, to enshrine it in law, the justification being for safety. All you then do is have random breath tests at the gate for anybody who they suspect is drunk, and if they are over the limit, they get offloaded. Alcohol sales on board should be limited to 1 drink per passenger on short haul/medium haul flights, with perhaps a higher limit on long haul provided a reasonable period of time has passed.
