There aren't drivers for external harddrives. You'll have USB interface drivers but if these are playing games no USB device is gonna work.
My suggestion is to buy a SATA hard driver adaptor (or even find a nice desktop you can put the HDD into), crack open the case and put the SATA drive (it will be a SATA drive) into the adaptor or desktop.
If it's showing up in partition manager but failing to mount partitions you probably have some bad sectors on the disk. If it's not showing up at all, the onboard electronics are fried. Both cases will require a trip to a specialist...
