Be warned its trains.

Stats show Cumbrian journeys are some of most overcrowded

In autumn last year, the 04:22 from Glasgow Central to Manchester Airport was the second most crowded train in the UK with 219 passengers in excess of its capacity of 191, 215 per cent more than standard capacity.

The 16:00 Manchester Airport to Edinburgh Waverley service was the third most overcrowded by a rate of 196 per cent and the 18:00 Manchester Airport to Edinburgh Waverley service had 176 per cent more passengers than standard capacity.

Rounding off the top 10 was the 06:15 Edinburgh Waverley to Manchester Airport service which was 161 per cent over capacity.

If these figures related to London the Train Users Council or some other such protest group would be up in arms.

Sir Buffon Tufton of Tonbridge would ensure it was headline news.... not sure what the answer is.

I was hoping 2 years Back Lord O'Neill he of Goldman Sachs fame was going to be a cheerleader for the North but on the face of it he has been an utter damp squib!

Unfortunately the fragmented nature of regional pride "In The North" means we have little or no leverage to address issues such as this at a national level.

Back to aviation, Oman have signed a code share with Saudia. This will initially include connecting flights by Saudi from the UK. Hopefully it will strengthen the new Oman Air Service as well as consolidate Saudi flights ex Manchester.

Good news also re FlyBe Air Berlin

"Passengers can now enjoy non-stop flights from the German airports of Dusseldorf, Berlin-Tegel, Hannover, Munich and Stuttgart connecting to a massive UK domestic /long haul network direct Ex Manchester.
