"MAYDAY, MAYDAY"

For those interested in such matters @andybounds has done an extensive piece regarding the Chinese and the #NorthernPowerhouse in the FT.

Thank God somebody "gets it".

No doubt "at some stage" a light bulb will go on at the M E N, Yorkshire Evening Post etc.

Make no mistake the impact on Manchester Airport could be catastrophic!

In the space of a few days Theresa May who I had high hopes for given lots of chitter, chatter re equality etc appears to be single handedly dismantling all the good work and momentum which the previous administration had built up in terms of investing in The North and working with key Labour administrators.

OK there was no Westminster money, realise that, but we did at least get the Chinese premier here and that must surely have influenced Hainan.

Before the "regionalist snipers" appear , it wasn't just "A Manchester Thing" only this week Sheffield was handed a £1bn Chinese investment deal , thee largest ever outside London ! Yes Sheffield in Yorkshire.

One could be tempted to say to Messrs May, Hammond etc

"what the hell are you doing".

George wasn't everyone's cup of tea and yes it was all rhetoric and zero money, but we gained more in 3years under his influence and his work "with Labour" than the previous 30 as investment was starting to build from other areas. A 64 storey scaper in the City centre, second tallest building in the UK is testament to the city's swagger and construction opportunities!

The board at Manchester Airport must be apoplectic at this turn of events!

There is zero to be gained from dismantling one policy in a fit of pique, simply because you don't like a fellow MP, it is quite another replacing that policy with your own initiative.

... I assume there is a policy replacement turning downwind , isn't there?
