I was just returning to edit my previous post, thinking it was just a bit too 'marginal'! But, as you point out, there's nothing prudish about Hinduism and the
lingum (the phallic symbol that represents the god Shiva), nor indeed the female
yoni, nor the (jaw-dropping) carvings on the temples at Khajuraho. However, I rather doubt that my little indiscretion inspired a religious moment for my seating companion!
