There is no revenue sharing between EI and AA. So BA/IAG make money whether people route with AA or EI, but more with EI (if they're being run for profit at this time). However, it makes AA's effort to establish and maintain a MAN market more difficult which despite operational issues this year they have made a decent stab at eg all wide body fleet and the newest aircraft of any airline operating transatlantic from MAN. My point was that just like in the past when BA only operated long haul from anywhere other than London to thwart growth at that location, today the tactics and names have changed, but the outcome is the same. BA remains an obstacle to airlines growing at MAN despite them having zero interest in providing a service themselves.
