Instructor designations in SE-Asia
The instructor Hierarchy in India does like
AFI Asst. Flight Instructor - Can Instruct for single engine PPL/CPL and Instrument Flying.
FI Flight Instructor - All privileges of AFI + instruct on multi-engine + Night Flying and can act as Examiner for Navigational Check-rides only.
Dy. CFI - All privileges of FI and Examiner for single/multi engine. Can take all check rides, except IR rating check. Additionally, may also be granted Instrument Rating Examiner rating on discretion of DGCA. May be the head of an FTO for a maximum of 6 months (In case a CFI leaves and a new CFI is still to join)
Chief Flight Instructor - All privileges of Dy. CFI, is the head of any FTO. The big-boss.
Some larger FTOs need to have two CFIs (bcause of excessive flying), in that case one CFI is designated as CI- Chief Instructor; but only 2-3 clubs in India have a fleet like that.
