That's good haha. I would probably send them an email only once they confirmed that they are offering a position, until then it is probably just extra admin for them. Only thing is, I've read that people have received their golden call/offering of the position at the same time as being given a GS date. I'd probably go with what Chicka said, just be firm and say that you need x amount of notice.
