Goldenrivett, Some modern a/c have a towing bus that is powered by batteries and a switch, 747-8 and the A350 to name but 2!
It's definitely an option on many aircraft.
Note that to power the nav lights, the towing bus requires an inverter to convert battery DC power to AC.
