I don't know, this sounds like more of a competitor for the A350-1000 than the A380. The -900 is on target for 370 min ETOPS certification this year (
says Airbus), the -1000 is due this year. So unless Boeing is about to bolt a couple more fans on to the 777, I don't think the A380 is the one Boeing to be concerned about.
