Position Details
Victoria Police Air Wing operates single pilot IFR, completing a wide range of tasks including Search and Rescue, general support to policing, surveillance, Tactical deployment of Special Operation Group personnel and many other tasks. The helicopters are NVG compliant and fitted with, winch, FLIR, Fastrope devices and video downlink capable to detail a few. As a pilot you will participate in winching, fast roping/rappelling, NVG operations and a wide range of tactical police ops. The Victoria Police Air Wing is based at Essendon Airfield in a large modern complex with facilities including a fully equipped gymnasium and an ‘Elite’ helicopter synthetic trainer. This is a stable home based position working in a dynamic environment for a large well-resourced organisation.

To be successful for these positions you will need to have the following minimum qualifications to be eligible to apply:
Current Commercial Helicopter Pilot Licence
Holder of current Class 1 Aviation medical
Minimum 2000 Helicopter flying hours with turbine experience
Minimum of 1500 Pilot in Command hours (Helicopter).
Command Multi-Engine (Helicopter) Instrument Rating
Night Visual Flight Rules rating
Hoist Endorsement or to qualify
NVG (Night Vision Goggles) endorsement or to qualify
Australian citizen or holding residency
Note: Successful applicants will be required to join Victoria Police as a Sworn Officer. The position also requires a security clearance which will involve fingerprinting, medical and psychological testing. Applicants are also required to attend in person for interview. This position may be required to work in adverse conditions. All applicants will need to be available for a full day assessment (9am – 5pm) between the 15-19 August 2016.
