The only problems there are, if EK were to "move" one of GLA's flights to EDI, or give them the 3rd daily flight, then these would be an evening or morning flight, respectively. This means they would not connect to the main bank at DXB, so Edinburgh would have slightly sub par connections.
Although... there's probably enough connections to major cities to satisfy EDI, i.e 7 flights a day to Bangkok
I certainly hope EK don't go into EDI all guns blazing though
