Malta's Air X eyes own set-up for UK-Greece leisure flights

Air X Charter (AXY, Malta) has announced plans of its own to develop seasonal leisure flights between the United Kingdom and Greece a week after a tentative summer contract with LoloFlights.com (Bournemouth) fell through.
The chairman of the Maltese charter operator, John Matthews, told Travel Weekly magazine that his firm was now looking to establish what he termed, a "trade-friendly" virtual carrier of its own to start flights from London Gatwick and Bournemouth to Greece between May and October of next year. Services will be run using a pair of B737-500s.
Last week, LoloFlights CEO Paul Dendle said poor demand had forced the termination of a contract with Air X which would have seen a B737-500 used for flights from Manchester Int'l and Bournemouth to Greece this summer. Dendle said he would pursue the same project next year albeit using a different operator.
