I guess this has to do with AIX812. India actively discouraged expats since 2010.
From what I understood Indian carriers prefer Indian women pilots. Apparently Indian family structure encourages women to become pilots, entire family takes care of kids while mom is flying. Apparently some carriers accommodate women pilots by not rostering them over weekends.
This also protects their workforce from being poached by gulf carriers.
Unique approach but impossible in west.
