I'm afraid to say, airports like any other business are in competition but I seriously doubt this loss to Birmingham will have them putting up the bunting up here.
It's a brutal world and Manchester "might" be next !
Unfortunately the behomoth which is Heathrow means every secondary airport which has long haul services feels as though it's only one economic storm away from losing them.
Increased oil prices
Ukraine
The Middle East
Dare I say even US China relations.
True I'm not remotely interested in Birmingham but I think directing your ire at yours truly is somewhat misplaced!
I think your time on here might be better invested focusing on other issues.
Its good to know we have kudos on a par with London in your neck of the woods but cancellation of the bhx flights will not make an iota difference to Manchester. It really won't.
Sorry, my comment was meant in jest - sometimes an emoji might be useful!
As you say the real elephant in the room is Heathrow, and if the balance between "cheap seats" and front end isn't right MAN might equally find itself under the microscope - assuming of course that Hainan are there to make a profit, not to do the bidding of the Chinese government.
