Skipness - a voice of reason amongst the hatred and utter cr*p being spouted by some of our regular contributors.

My guess would be that the traditional bucket and spade routes will always be supported from the travelling public. If Ryanair start a myriad of routes and as you rightly say people try them once and then revert back to their traditional holiday, then what? Ryanair arent noted for continuing with stagnant growth routes and I would imagine their much vaunted plans might be quietly scaled back. How many routes have been started over the years (from both airports) only to be quietly dropped a short time later. Its not the airlines fault, its not the airports fault, its simply not the right product for our local market.

The real question is how long will it be before the traditional routes are simply over subscribed and who will be left after a few seasons? In the meantime everyone will enjoy the lower costs and choice of carriers and timings.
