PPL type rating

Could someone please explain why a single engine Jet aircraft doesn't require a SE (Jet) type rating? Also am I correct in thinking that if you wanted to fly / display a SU26M or Extra 300 you need to obtain a high performance rating including passing ATPL exams? Does the same apply if your flying a category of aircraft that the CAA aren't able to categorize say a jet aircraft with more than zero but less than two engines?

Also does anyone else think the report is missing the kind of human factors / physiology issues associated with flying high performance jet aircraft? This would be totally standard in an MAA investigation.?.?
