You mentioned it - in the 80's! We all know the 80's and before are history in terms of good life and salaries in a pilots life. Useless to moan about such thing in the year 2016.
You have to stay in reality in a standard european company. And I don't think that is sooooo bad. Had much much worse(QR was one of them) in my life....
