Very disappointing news regarding Lcy - Ork route. The route was certainly sustainable but not at the three daily rotations being operated by WX. As WX are not in a position to hold out while the route developed it is understandable that they had to cut their losses. In essence they did the best they could with the available resources.

That brings us onto what next! The route was very popular amongst Munster people working in London (Myself being one). I also know for a fact that it was being used by senior people in a number of large companies with London and Cork offices. That includes larger international banks etc..

There is a market of around 7000 passengers per month on this route. Even allowing for "leakage" due to a reduced frequency there is definitely a market to support one daily evening rotation (5000 odd passengers Per month). The ball is now in the DAA's court in trying to attract another carrier onto the route. The two alternatives being BA City Flier (less likely due to Union agreements in the IAG group and leakage of traffic from LHR) or more likely Flybe. Lets see if there is the will to achieve continuation of the route by the power that be!
