Reports of ground damage pre-dated Concorde.
In the early 50's when booms were still a novelty from the noise point of view a number of market gardeners in southern England complained about their greenhouses being reduced to piles of broken glass.
I have a feeling that Hawkers and Supermarine eventually settled the damage claims.
I was in a tower once when an F105 practising for a show went well over mach 1 at about 100ft agl along the main runway. A guy painting the outside of his house about a couple of miles away claimed he was blown off a ladder, but other opinion reckoned it was just the noise which startled him.
At about 500 yards from the aircraft the noise was like a loud thunderclap which really rattled the double plate glass windows in the tower, but not as loud as some thunder I have heard when the storm is directly overhead.
