The canny voters of Manchester voted against having a mayor recently, and guess what, they're having one imposed by the government in Westminster. Ho hum, so much for "localism".
Can't say the government hasn't learned from its masters in Brussels!
A GM Mayor and a Manchester Mayor are two very different things though. The people were right to vote against the Manchester Mayor but a vote on a GM Mayor may have been different. We have one now in any case.
