......could not have phrased it better.

My Manchester mayor comments are issue driven not political BTW.

Despite rhetoric on the surface the Labour administration have worked well with Osborne, Burnham could ruin that. And whilst this all may seem "off piste" it really does matter !

....Because as a City Manchester has snowballed in terms of GDP in recent years. A testament to the 30+ mega property developments going on. Love them or loathe them they are a litmus test in terms of foreign investment and whether we like them or not at least it's is investment! Manchester Airport is absolutely front and centre in terms of reflecting what happens in the City and new services by the likes of Hainan are tied on with that. Getting them in and hopefully Air China was as much about the work by Manchester as a City as it was the airport marketing team.

Burnham detests the Labour administration in Manchester possibly more so than the Tories, if he gets in we could have a brake on just about everything as he uses that power of office to derail and destroy the working relationships which have put Manchester on the map.

As I said previously on the exact day Manchester annouced it's terminal expansion, something that every NWEST MP should have supported he was spouting about the necessity to expand Heathrow.

It would be better to have a high profile figurehead, somebody that people could identify with who could work with Leese etc and let them carry on the good work on the background, sadly even the other candidates don't appear to inspire confidence.

Ps ....more Private Eye than Daily Mail.

By way of balance Graham Brady is also a buffoon. He represents Sale where many airport employees reside. He is equally dammed when it comes to supportimg expansion of Manchester Airport.
