As the inferences drawn from known facts seem to point towards energy mismanagement, in the event the crew were reliant on HUD during the approach, would it not be reasonable to assume the HGS would have provided enhanced SA and energy management and would have alerted the crew from excessive and ill timed nose down pitch trim.
