What do you do?
You go back to last-used frequency of course - not faff about long enough to cause alarm in present climate - then to make it worse - there were reports of aircraft not transponding?
Would like to have a quick look at maintenance/snag sheet prior to flight ;-)
Sounds like a severe case of 'poor airmanship'
And Yes, I am speculating as last time I looked this is still a 'rumour' network
