Dick's terms were always that he would run against her if she ran again. The good preselectors of Mackellar have decided for generational change and nominated a young bloke instead.
This was always about Dick bullying the Liberal Party into doing what he wanted. He has threatened to run against John Anderson in the past, but he has never actually put his coconuts on the line.
It's a bit like his line back in the 1990s that he was fully qualified to be a Commercial pilot, he just had to complete the exams. Anyone else remember that one? The fact is that being a Commercial Pilot takes discipline, team skills, and the ability to follow someone else's instructions - a lot like being a Party politician.
