I don't know about Afterburners, but FedEx has the last 727's off the Boeing line. I think 13 of them were converted by Valsan with 2 JT8D-217's (same as MD-88 I believe) and a single -17 in the number two position. They go upstairs like a raped ape. From personal experience.
