George was the classic methodical test pilot, even when forced to bail out of the prototype Cariboo he took time to stow all the data under his seat and shut down all systems, including the engines so that the aircraft did not burn on impact, thus the cause of the elevator flutter which caused the loss of control was easy for the boffins to find the reason for this. I have the privilege of owning a very old airplane which was owned and restored by George and his sister, yesterday my wife and I were working on it in preparation for a new season of fly ins and air shows , it is a constant reminder of a great test pilot, a brilliant aircraft engineer and restorer, but most of all a dear friend and mentor.
