fish Wildlife Crime / Shark fin NOTOCs please?

As pilots and signature to the various NOTOCs that get handled every day, I am asking you to kindly please scrutinize these for carriage of shark fin, which will nominally be listed under "Dry Product".

Scan pdf or photo copies of NOTOCs and/or any photos of CX shark fin as cargo can be securely and anonymously e-mailed to [email protected]

All NOTOCs and or photos received will be treated in the strictest confidence, and marker pen black out to obscure sensitive personal data is no problem.

Photos of shark fin on the tarmac or already loaded on board are particularly welcome, as management insist that shark fin has been banned, but we in this community know otherwise.

Hong Kong shark fin shippers are known to renew contracts with existing clients to continue to carry shark fin into HKG. Additionally, a proper audit of the airway bill will highlight what you are realistically carrying. It may take time to procure from the handling agent but is small price to pay if you end up unknowingly flying illegal shark fin or worse.

In addition to shark fin, please kindly look out for other endangered wildlife?

For example; wildlife hunting trophies from Africa, pre-Convention ivory from Europe, lion bone from South Africa destined for China, live corals plus any other endangered species. Anything suspicious! Coral often gets carried with live tropical fish for the triad-run aquarium trade, where the fish are utterly expendable and the coral is prized for the jewelry trade.

Once again, copies of NOTOCs can be securely and anonymously e-mailed to [email protected]

And once again, all NOTOCs and or photos received will be treated in the strictest confidence, and marker pen black out to obscure sensitive personal data is no problem.

Thank you all!
