Dark clouds
Things not looking great at all for VLM according to a Belgian newspaper report.
The company made a significant loss last year - rumoured to be the record breaking sum of 13.5 million euro - and recently had to defer the payment of salaries for a few days because of a deposit of 500.000 euro requested by Wirecard, a payment transaction company that they use to manage forward bookings.
Obviously, VLM should have known about this payment (to be paid once a certain threshold of bookings was reached) and more or less when it was due. Their financial situation however seems to be rather precarious if the timing of this deposit meant they couldn't immediately pay staff as well. In their 24 year history, they've never missed a payment to staff and I guess they won't be able to pull off such a stunt ever again.
They just sold 4 of their 10 operational planes earlier this year, but when asked about the state of their business, the new management just states that they got another 6 to sell.
