News has reached the offices of the NorthernPowerhouse that the Government is investing heavily, very, very heavily in transport infastructure in the South East ( see LGW thread £6.5bn and Stansted £27bn) And rightly so.
It can therefore only be a matter of time before Manchester Airport gets a good slug of Whitehall cash.
Well that's if there is any left .... only joking !
About £50m is usually the going rate for investment up North and whilst this is a wee bit modest its still substantial for the North West.
What would this buy and what would supporters of Manchester Airport most like to see in terms of improvements to rail connectivity?
Personally I would like to see an additional track to Airport City South might be beneficial re freight given investment by DHL And Amazon although unlike crossrail2 and Thameslink I appreciate that kind of improvement would only benefit Manchester rather than be in the national interest.
