How on earth do you get a baby in a carry on bag through security???
No idea, but I'm not sure it's relevant to this story anyway.
The version of events being told in the French press is that the Mother had a ticket for the Air France flight, the child (4 years old, not a baby, possibly being adopted) didn't. They both openly went through some "checks" of some sort at Istanbul ( they may well have been in transit there ). According to some reports she then tried to board the AF flight with the child in "open sight" but was denied boarding at the first attempt. It seems the mother then went away from the gate area, put the child in the bag, and at the second attempt got past the gate staff and crew and onto the Air France flight.
