Hmmm, they kept very quiet about this didn't they.
BBC NEWS | UK | Stolen Hurricane flies into history books
Hmmm, aviation puzzle.
The pick below was posted elsewhere as a Whitley Bomber Usworth Airbase Empire Air Show 1935.
A swift google tells me the Whitney did not appear until 1936 and was not operational until 1938?
There is a reason for ones apparent nerdishness, one of my earliest memories as a toddler was being on the Town Moor and standing beneath a huge Bomber and being awed by the gigantic wheels, trouble is nobody in the rest of me family remembers this event, and as a three of four year old I dont think I would have been allowed to go here by meself so tiz a puzzle, just wondered if that photo is of the event I remember and the date is wrong.the other thing is one having become something of a expert on old photies due to one's lifelong interest in same and the clobber worn by those who star in them, the gear those folks are wearing looks post war to me.
