Try the MyClip knee strap. This products doesn't add bulk to the size of the iPad. Also, it is flexible, so if in an extreme case the T-bar touches the iPad, the T-bar pushes the iPad away; the iPad mounted in a MyClip does not interfere with, or restrict, the movement of the cyclic control.
I have been using one and the same strap for years now; I could adjust it from iPad2 to iPad4, and it still gives me undiminished service. I found no need to buy a new accessory every time I changed the iPad model. Viewing angle can be adjusted, giving its flexible nature, by packing out the side that you wish to be lifted - this could well be a 28V radial fan that keeps the iPad cool and prevents it from switching off in the most inopportune moments.
