Spoke to a TCX (MT) pilot friend today - SFO etc is happening next year. They are heavily committed to the MAN long-haul strategy now, having nearly walked away from long-haul altogether three years ago. They seem to be gaining some market traction - the MAN-USA services are being boosted by Lufthansa feed from Germany in the tie-up with Condor (strange but true) and by Flybe within the UK. Now looking to acquire more A330s. On the downside, the arrangement with Condor probably means no direct MT flights from MAN going East to the likes of BKK or India, that's Condor country from FRA. Enter The Dragon.
