I suppose if NATS get it then they will finally have a monopoly over the entire NI airspace. I wonder which traffic will get priority, my guess is that nothing will be allowed to delay all the important Aldergrove traffic and that Harbour traffic will be on permanent scenic tours! Going on my limited ppl experience and the overkill employed to "separate" me in my VFR puddle jumper against an easy airbus miles away it was mind boggling!
An interesting scenario though if Aldergrove ATC were to use facilities rented from Aldergrove airport to provide a service to Aldergrove airport's main competitor. Would this mean Aldergrove airport management would have an indirect input into Harbour traffic routings if they were to specify that NATS should give Aldergrove traffic priority? I have previously heard on the grapevine that Aldergrove ATC were banned by Aldergrove airport management from helping out Harbour traffic when there were ILS problems at Harbour.
