Little bit confused.
Incident happened during normal tanking ops i.e. A safe area. A fault was discovered and the tanker and F16 left the area to rtb. Well handled emergency but I don't quite get the implication of "tanker sprints to danger zone to save pilot fro ejection trauma" story of some of the more sensational reporting. As i seem to remember the similar VC10 incidents involved in the tankers getting very much more "danger close" to effect a succesful outcome.
