History repeats itself??
I know of a VC10 crew that did a very similar thing for a FAF Mirage over AFG in the (very) early noughties; kept him plugged in until he could get back to his carrier. If I remember correctly, the Capt got a gong of some sort (just not sure if it was a UK or French one)
