EMAS

FYI

KFLL Runway 10R/28L has 600 ft of EMAS at each end which is supposed to be equivalent to a normal 1000 ft RESA for stopping distance. Obviously, it would not be suitable for undershoot protection.

The east end of the runway has a 55 ft shear drop off down to grade level due to the sloping required to allow a 4 track railroad and a 6 lane highway to pass underneath.

Unlike the FAA plates, for some unknown reason, Jeppesen(Boeing) does not show runway gradients on their airport depictions.
