if you're practising an approach, then no, because all aerodromes with published approaches are CTAF-R or controlled.
But there are exceptions to all rules, including the "R" in "CTAF-R" (And CTAF-R is, as far as I am aware, no longer the terminology
de jour. I think this week it's "certified" or "registered" or "military" or something like that.)
