I suppose the price of fuel has given them a bit of wriggle room in winter and allowed them to give it a chance.
If the booking engine is anything to go by the January figures are going to be scary. I have been able to cross-check a few loads and it is fairly accurate measure of pax on board but of course not yield.
The other thing I have noticed is that when you check AA business class it never seems to sell out yet United is often "showing full". On Sunday the plane had an average load in and out but business was showing full and inbound this morning as well.
Obviously United are entrenched and we don't know how many were upgraded FF's coupled with the fact that their next flight outbound is not until Friday and this might have affected things, which just goes to show there are a lot of factors to be taken into account at this time of year.
