It's no big secret that the NLH 787 gig is just about the worst paying wide-body job for an experienced skipper. Neither is it a big secret that Norwegian and its management are hardly enjoying a rosy relationship, nor that they employ dodgy employment practices involving contracing agencies and one-man-companies.

But they offer jobs in Europe and that, in and off itself, is becoming more and more attractive to a growing number of people, who've just about had it with e.g. the Lords of Sand and Carbohydrates.

The question thus becomes not one of how 'poorly' the pay is, but rather whether it's 'enough' to live a satisfactory life in the place you prefer. For some, a growing number I suspect, it's worth giving up the 2nd car, the maid, the golf club membership and start paying a Euro or more per litre of 95 unleaded.

It's very easy to find out the pot of gold at the far shores was actually gilded shyte, but it can be a bit of cold turkey returning to 'normality' once you've assumed the habits of relative richness.
