Sorry this is so rushed and muddley, no answers required, just spreading the word about the work Kasper is putting into these issues.

The Rivetess in Texas has just done a total reinstall of W7 and has subsequently hit the same problems with totally separate software. All downloaded in the US. It seems it might be a world wide problem.

***********

Got a personal email from Kasper again today. Instructions for sending the "What's going on in your computer" file and how to get the key from their main screen.*

They told me not to worry about the speed of my reply - which is usually 7 days. Nice they should be so understanding.

I had just leaned there is a highly specialized removal tool for the old program(s) But to my relief, it's okay not to use that. I'd followed another email which showed the normal un-install and was freaking out because I thought maybe it's vital to use the removal tool and new problems may have resulted from going the simple route.

Remaining problems are a light Blue screen telling me there's a problem and then Restarting. Plus the FF thing of pages of "Profiles" that Ccleaner takes an age to kill. This has become a problem suddenly and associated with the new FF. Nice that Kasper is willing to look at their interaction with FF and consider all the issues rather than pass the buck.

*the key is not the same as the activation key which is four lots of five. Go to Kasper bottom right of their screen where it says how many days you've got left and click on that. Mucho data, and an odd key of varied length 'words'.

they need a photo of this to issue one with a new ordinary activation key should the one deep down in the PC becomes lost.

I used to love all this stuff - so much that I had to NOT read computer books while flying. I'd become so engrossed that Morocco would go by unnoticed - and I was only going to Guernsey.
