Is the sheer mass of the aircraft a factor ?

Have complaints about F70 & MD-80, good reports on B777 & B747.

MTOWs (ballpark tonnes):
F70: 40
MD-8x: 65-70
B777: 250-350
B747: 350-450

OTOH:
B767: 150-200
