The split to C/D could have detrimental effect, depending on the configuration used. The SSD's health monitoring logic should take care of it, so no need to worry.
The RAM size comment, is an important one. In case you have only 4 or less, go for 8. Reinstall W10 clean in 64bit, use the integrated AV, stay away from the likes of CCleaner. Since re-install would require meticulous transfer of data onto E/F, once everything is there it would be a good idea to make a full copy of that onto the USB drive. Malware ridden PC is not the problem, even if part of a bot-net, sending spam. Loss of personal work is!
