Assuming your examiner is not registered with the UK CAA, I guess he is not allowed to sign anything on your licence. I went through my revalidation some weeks ago and had to send my original logbook (where the training flight has been confirmed by your instructor) and copies of the instructors' EASA-licence and medical (they want to be sure that he is current) together with form 1119 (think it was 1119B) to the CAA. A couple of days (!) later I have received my new licence and my logbook...
