I reckon the response to "don't you know who I am?" Should be to pick up the PA and make an announcement, something along the lines of:
"Excuse me ladies and gentlemen. It appears the agitated man/woman standing at the counter has no idea who they are. If anyone recognises them please put them, and us, out of our collective miseries and enlighten the poor individual."
