Russian Helicopters receives type certification for Mi-38
When originally launched in
1999 in partnership with Eurocopter, the P&WC PW127 powered aircraft was planned to enter production in 2006. EC withdrew from the project in
2003, and the platform subsequently switched to Klimov TV7-117Vs.
A contender for most protracted civil rotorcraft development effort? Perhaps only edged out by the
AW609, originally launched in November 1996 (as the Bell Boeing 609).
