UAL on the other hand benefited from a former Pan Am guy who did assume a management position and wrote many manuals that were looked upon very favorably. Can't recall his name now but he was very effective.
I believe you are thinking of Hart Langer. He really did clean up Pan Am's manuals and add nice color pictures for folks like me.
