CAT 3 Landing test a few years ago at Cork.
When the test for Cat 3 Approaches was done by Aer Lingus on runway 17 at Cork several years ago people said it failed due to the terrain approaching runway 17 and that Cat 3 would never be possible on this runway. I was told last week by someone involved with the test that it failed due to the position of the VOR so close to runway 17. The aircraft could not get a stable enough lock to comply with Cat 3 approaches due to the position of the VOR. Maybe Cat 3 would be available if the VOR would be moved. This would cost money so who would spend money at Cork Airport. Any other information out there about this story.?????
