Helicopter crash in the Atlantic

Two crew and three oil workers died when an S-76 crashed in the Atlantic on Saturday.
The accident happened about 70 miles off the port of Macae, 115 miles northeast of Rio De Janeiro.

The helicopter crashed and sank in 3000ft of water as it tried to land on an oil tanker.

Stolt Offshore, said yesterday: "The rotor hit an antenna on the ship and then broke off. The helicopter crashed and sank very quickly."

A spokesman for BHS who operated the helicopter told Associated Press "The helicopter was trying to land on a Petrobras oil platform when its back rotor broke off, causing it to topple into the sea."

Petrobras divers found the wreckage of the helicopter and the bodies of the pilot, co-pilot and three passengers at the bottom of the sea at a depth of 820m.

Operations to recover the bodies, including Ken Ward, a computer expert from Aberdeen , were under way on Sunday with the help of the Brazilian Navy.
